A Wilderness Experience of Loneliness and Fear
66From Tears to Triumph
During my many years as a born again Christian, I have had more than one wilderness experience where I felt extremely lost and lonely as expressed in the following piece, A Cry In The Wind. It is only by continuously growing my relationship with God and maintaining increased intimacy have I matured through each test. The knowledge that my Savior Jesus Christ LIVES gives me the strength to endure and face each day as stated in the song, "Because He Lives I can face tomorrow. Because He lives all fear is gone. Because I know He holds my future and life is worth the living just because He lives."
(Psalm 34:17) "The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles."
A Cry In The Wind
I CRIED out!
But no one answered.
I REACHED out!
But no one was there.
LISTEN to me!
Someone … anyone.
I was heard, but no one listened.
I was touched, but no one cared.
My thoughts and feelings were misunderstood.
I had needs … to be understood… to be held.
O God! Have mercy, please listen …
I NEEDED God to dispel my frustrations
and to fill all my needs.
To HELP ME from withdrawing
into the overwhelming emptiness!
Lord … I sensed You
calming my anxiety and confusion.
Father … I felt Your love and saw Your light
shining throughout the dark tunnel.
Savior … I listened to Your instructions for my life.
Holy Spirit … I yielded to Your direction
and held on till my blessing... because You,
my Friend was attentive to my CRY.
"The Lord will perfect that which concerns me; You're mercy, O Lord, endures forever; Do not forsake the works of Your hands." (Psalms 138:8)
Be blessed,
Jo Anne Meekins

The wilderness experience is one of loneliness, but one of joy because it's a time spent closely with the Lord and a time of learning. Knowing that you will come out in the promise land, a land flowing with milk and honey if you are obedient and listen to what God is saying.
Because he lives is one of my old time favorites, it lift me because it reminds me that i am not alone but God is with me in each tomorrow.
Hey inspired 4 u: Very few people can search into their souls and pour out what is inside. You are gifted to do that. That is a "gift." You know how to release. Beautiful hub. Be Blessed. Looking forward to more of your writings.
I have had a few wilderness experiences as well and your poem expresses it well.
There were times when I would hope it was all over and He would say we aren't done yet. It all serves a greater purpose...maybe as you said that spiritual maturity that can only be developed in that way.
How blessed that He would always remind us that He is there when no one else is.
Enjoyed your hub and insights into this experience.

What a touching poem and I enjoyed the video. "Because he lives" is one of my favorite songs. I use to sing it all the time with my mother.
As a Christian, I think we are tested each day to help us grow and lean on Christ for strength.
This is a poem that speaks out the hurt and frustration one feels when life has been a let down, but through Christ all things are possible.
Thanks for sharing this wonderful piece.
